There Company Mocopinus GmbH & Co. KG prepares to end its activities. Despite several months of active research aimed at identifying a buyer, no investor was ultimately able to ensure the takeover of the company as an operational entity. There insolvency procedure under direct management undertaken in recent months thus resulted in the organization of a gradual cessation of productionbefore the closure of industrial sites located Ulm, Karlsruhe And Ammelshainin Germany.

Mocopinus is one of the main European players in industrial planing and specializes in the transformation of wood intended for facades, terraces and interior design. The German company employs nearly 270 employees spread between its production sites in Karlsruhe, which has around 180 employees, and Ammelshain near Leipzig, where nearly 60 people work. The administrative headquarters, located in Ulm, brings together around thirty employees.

In the absence of a buyer, the market situation seals the future of the company

Despite months of efforts to find a recovery solution, the market situation will have finally got the better of the prospects of continuity for Mocopinus GmbH & Co. KG. Management, accompanied by restructuring experts and mergers and acquisitions advisors, held discussions with several potential investors until the last moment.

These approaches, however, came up against the difficult economic situation which is currently hitting the construction sector and the wood industry. While certain expressions of interest have been expressed for the company’s assets – particularly for its real estate assets – no proposal has made it possible to envisage the resumption of operational activity under economically viable conditions.

In these circumstances, and in the absence of an investor capable of ensuring a sustainable economic base for the company and its jobs, the continuation of activities cannot be envisaged. “It’s an extremely bitter day for Mocopinus and for our colleagues“, said Ulrich Braigthe director of the company, in a press release. “We fought until the last minute to save the company. The fact of not having achieved this, despite the operational stabilization observed in recent weeks, deeply affects us.”

Social negotiations initiated and gradual cessation of production

There direction of Mocopinus GmbH & Co. KG informed the staff representatives of this development and plans to quickly initiate discussions with the works councils in order to define an agreement of interests as well as a social plan. Nearly 270 employees were brought together during staff meetings to be informed of the current situation and the next steps in the procedure.

However, the cessation of activities will not be immediate. With the aim of honoring current orders and optimizing the use of available stocks, a gradual end of production will be organized on the industrial sites of Karlsruhe And Ammelshain. Customer orders should therefore continue to be manufactured and delivered over the coming months, before the definitive cessation of operations.

There subsidiary Lignum Finish GmbHlocated in Aitrachhowever, is not affected at this stage by this closure. Negotiations are currently continuing regarding the future of this entity.
