SAIE – The Construction Fair: design, construction, systems it has never been just an exhibition: it is the physical place where the construction chain meets to take stock of where the sector is going, discuss new products, share skills and build relationships which then, outside the pavilions, are transformed into concrete projects and opportunities.
An event that brings companies, designers, installers, manufacturers, professional associations, trade associations and institutions around the same table, categories that today more than ever find themselves going through a transformation of the sector.
SAIE 2026 in Bologna, the four thematic routes
The event, which this year returns to BolognaFiere from 7 to 10 October – after the success of the 2024 edition, which registered over 40,000 participants and more than 500 companies on display – continues the annual strategic alternation between the two exhibition centers of Bari and Bologna, thus covering the entire Italian market.
Alongside the exhibition offering, there are special initiatives, divided into four thematic itineraries that orient visitors among the most urgent issues in the sector: SAIE Innovation on digitalisation and technologies for the construction site, from BIM to digital twins; SAIE Sustainability on energy efficiency and eco-sustainable materials; SAIE Infrastructure on large public projects; SAIE People at the Center on the growth of skills and professional updating.
Formedil, EDILtrophy, Cassa Edile Award
But the fair is also the stage on which the entire bilateral Italian construction system is presented. Formedil – Single Training and Safety Body – is present with its own pavilion, bringing its local bodies with it. SAIE also hosts the national final of the EDILtrophy, the bricklaying competition which since 2008 has rewarded the best bricklayers of the year in the senior and junior categories, and the Cassa Edile Award, which recognizes the virtuous behavior of operators in the sector.
The sector presents itself at the event in a condition of concrete vitality. The most significant opportunities focus on the redevelopment of existing assets and urban regeneration, with growing attention to the theme of living: the Housing Plan aims in fact to make purchasing and renting accessible for that segment of families who do not fall within the parameters of public housing but do not have the resources for the free market, opening up concrete spaces also for small and medium-sized businesses.
