Three new solutions, technical developments and a screed based on wood aggregates: Edilteco had plenty to talk about at the Paris Builders Show. Overview of the new products presented.

Renovation often requires dealing with old floors, wooden structures and supports whose load-bearing capacity limits the possible solutions. To answer it, Edilteco France continues the development of its lightweight mortars and screedsby working on the materials, the conditions of implementation and the technical framework of their use.

The manufacturer thus presents three additional news: KOP-Ô CHAPE, a lightweight wood-based fiber screed ; THE XXs DUAL TECH SCREWwhich adapts its consistency to the application methods; and the renewal of the DTA of four POLITERM and POLINIV formulations.

Presented at the Paris Builders Show, Edilteco’s CHAPE XXs® DUAL TECH was among the solutions nominated for the 2026 Innovation Awards, in the Structural Work category. This lightweight fiber screed is distinguished by its 2-in-1 technology, which allows you to choose between a traditional straight-edge application and a fluid implementation, by simply adjusting the water dosage. KOP-Ô SCAPE: wood becomes a technical aggregate

Officially presented at Salon Batimat, KOP-Ô CHAPE mark one evolution in the formulation of lightweight screeds because rather than relying solely on lightweight mineral aggregates or expanded polystyrene beads, Edilteco integrates into its mixture wood aggregates from PEFC certified forests in the Vosges massif.. There raw material comes exclusively from spruce wood from forest thinning work. Before its incorporation, it follows a preparation cycle including four months of maturation, natural bleeding then mineralization, intended to ensure its stability and its rot-proofness.

This formulation responds in particular to the constraints of old buildings as well as wooden floors. With an announced density of 1,200 kg/m3KOP-Ô CHAPE makes it possible to reduce the reported weight by up to 50% compared to traditional concrete, according to the manufacturer. It can be used both for resurfacing and as a finishing screed, in individual homes as well as in collective housing. © Laure Pophillat

A formulation designed to facilitate installation

Packaged in ready-to-mix 23 liter bags, the screed is fibered and designed to facilitate the work of the applicator. Its creamy and malleable texture favors drawing with a ruler, while its formulation makes it possible to do without, in most configurations, the anti-cracking mesh. The surface obtained is said to be sufficiently closed and regular to allow direct gluing of tiles, without prior leveling. The product is compatible with the main floor coverings and meets the NF EN 13813 standard.

Mechanically, Edilteco announces a compressive strength greater than or equal to 11 MPa and a flexural strength greater than or equal to 4 MPa. The thermal conductivity reaches 0.334 W/(m·K), while the acoustic attenuation is estimated at 17 dB for a thickness of 5 cm. Implementation is planned from 3 cm for filling and 5 cm for screed, for a maximum thickness of 10 cm.

An environmental approach based on local resources

Integrated into the Edilteco GREEN range, KOP-Ô CHAPE combines wood aggregates from the Vosges with CEM II cement. The manufacturer indicates that the manufacture of this cement makes it possible to reduce CO emissions2 of approximately 58 kg per tonne, and according to data communicated by the supplier of the aggregates, the biogenic carbon stored in the wood represents approximately 350 kg of CO2 per m3 of material.

Manufactured on the Edilteco site in Sèvremoine, Maine-et-Loire, KOP-Ô CHAPE also illustrates the manufacturer’s desire to rely on French forest resources and national production.

XXs DUAL TECH: one screed, two application methods

Another evolution of the range, THE XXs DUAL TECH SCREW replaces the historic XXs formulation with a notable difference: the applicator can choose between a traditional application, using a ruler, and a fluid application with a self-leveling consistency; a versatility based on the adjustment of the volume of water during mixing.

In the traditional version, the mortar is distributed then adjusted with a ruler before finishing with a smoother, while in the fluid version, the level adjustment is followed by a pass with a roller or stripping bar to homogenize the surface. The aim is to offer companies the possibility of adapting their method to the constraints of the site without having to select two different products.

Like the other lightweight screeds in the range, XXs DUAL TECH combines cement and virgin expanded polystyrene beads with controlled particle sizecoated with a specific EIA adjuvant. Its fiber formulation aims to limit the use of anti-cracking mesh but also to facilitate obtaining a regular surface.

The product shows a weight saving of around 50% compared to traditional concrete. It can be applied from 1 cm thick in adherent installation on concrete support and from 2 cm in loose installation on wooden support, provided that the support is capable of supporting the loads and that the applicable requirements are respected. The maximum thickness announced in a single pass reaches 15 cm. Edilteco also announces the possibility of gluing the tiles within 24 hours, without prior leveling. The screed is compatible with the main floor coverings and benefits from an A2fl-s1 reaction to fire classification, according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

There consistency of there screed depends of there quantity water incorporated At blend : THE dosage must SO respect THE recommendations of manufacturer in order to ensure THE performance mechanical expected. After five minutes of mixing, THE product stay usable during 30 minutes And born must not be rewet. POLITERM and POLINIV: a DTA renewed until August 2028

In addition to these new features, Edilteco France announces the renewal of the CSTB Technical Application Document for its lightweight screeds POLITERM 1000 and 1200 as well as POLINIV 1000 and 1200. DTA No. 13/20-1473_V2 is valid until August 2028. This new version incorporates several developments, including the replacement of the old name POLIFLUIDE 1000 and 1200 by POLINIV 1000 and 1200, the evolution of the consistency control methods and the integration of the EDILKRONOS UNIVERSAL bonding primer. The four formulations are based on a technology combining cement, sand and POLITERM Fein polystyrene beads coated with EIA adjuvant. They are offered in two densities, 1,000 and 1,200 kg/m3in order toadapt the level of relief to the needs of the site.

The difference between the two families relates in particular to their consistency and their method of application. POLITERM 1000 and 1200 have a texture allowing manual distribution and adjustment with the concrete trowel while the POLINIV formulationsenriched with a superplasticizer, are more flexible and are worked using a debubble bar. However, dIn both cases, the products can be pumped to the application area and applied in a single coat. They are intended for new work as well as renovation and can be applied to different supports, in particular concrete floors, paving, wood floors or wood-based panels, existing screeds and certain old coverings, under the conditions defined by the DTA.

The installation thickness starts at 5 cm in common configurations and can reach 20 cm, with specific provisions for certain applications on thin acoustic underlay or on POLITERM 200 or 300 light filling.

The renewal of the DTA provides professionals with a reference framework for the prescription and implementation of the four formulations concerned. It is based on proven technology: Edilteco claims more than 2 million m2 of POLITERM screeds implemented in France since 1997, and more than 40 million m2 produced in 44 countries. For project managers and companies, the challenge is to have solutions whose conditions of use are documented, in particular when the diversity of supports requires precise verification of the compatibility of the system with the site. © Edilteco France
