In the most demanding construction work, such as demolition, core drilling, concrete cutting and metalworking, power, autonomy and operational continuity directly impact the organization of activities and the productivity of the teams. They are also areas in which, generally, the use of cable equipment is the most common choice.

Cordless tools for heavy applications: how work on construction sites is changing

Hilti’s new Nuron heavy-duty cordless tools aim to offer comparable performance to corded alternatives. To support this evolution, the company has introduced the new B 290-22 battery, designed to guarantee maximum power, extended autonomy and fast charging, improving efficiency on construction sites by up to 25%.

Nuron is a cloud-connected 22-volt cordless tool platform designed to bring together a wide range of tools into a single ecosystem. As part of the platform, the new attachments allow operators to expand their Hilti fleet without having to change power systems.

The new range covers applications such as demolition, core drilling, concrete cutting, metal cutting and grinding and wood cutting. The main innovations include:

  • SCN 60-22 battery-powered chainsaw: designed for wood demolition, with high chain speed, for smooth cuts;
  • SCT 60-22 battery-powered table saw: designed to offer powerful and portable cutting on the construction site;
  • Cordless miter saw DSH 900-22: for cutting concrete, metal and other materials;
  • Cordless angle grinder AG 30-22: with changeable handle to offer greater flexibility and less fatigue;
  • TE 1000-22 and TE 3000-22 battery-powered demolition machines: characterized by a high impact force for demolitions;
  • TE 70-22 cordless punch: designed to make multiple holes on a single charge.

Tommaso Turchi, Division Manager Civil Engineering Hilti Italia commented: “The real transformation concerns the extension of the areas of use of cordless tools. Thanks to the progress in terms of power and durability of Nuron technology, battery-powered solutions can now also be used in some of the most demanding processes, traditionally the prerogative of other power technologies (for example cable), improving productivity and safety. The choice of cordless tools, in fact, is a guarantee of numerous benefits, including ease of movement, reduction of preparation times and greater safety due to the absence of cables on the construction site, all this without compromising performance”.

A single battery for multiple tools: how the Nuron platform works

The aim of the platform is to allow professionals to power an increasingly larger number of tools with a single system, from breakers to saws, from grinders to drills to compactors, thanks to the introduction of specific technologies for heavy applications.

To support this versatility, the B 290-22 battery is compatible with all Nuron tools and chargers, allowing you to use the same ecosystem even when moving from light and medium applications to more demanding ones.

The platform can also integrate with ON!Track, Hilti’s equipment management software, which allows you to have greater control over your fleet and battery status. According to Hilti, this integration can help reduce unplanned downtime by up to 20%, resulting in faster work cycles, fewer unexpected delays, lower labor costs and, ultimately, higher project margins.

“The adoption of a single battery platform allows you to power a growing number of tools, with both economic and organizational advantages, thanks to higher interoperability and simplified management of batteries and chargers”, Tommaso Turchi clarified. “The leap in quality is also achieved on a new front: the traceability of the tool park. Thanks to the IOT technology present in the Nuron battery, we can monitor the use, availability and position of the equipment, improving the management of the tool park. In this way, even for a company with multiple teams or multiple construction sites, it is possible to reduce the time needed to identify a piece of equipment, support logistics management and reduce downtime, as well as evaluate whether the number of tools available is really adequate for the operational needs of the company itself.”

Construction site tools: power supply, autonomy and conditions of use

While continuing to expand the portfolio of battery-powered tools, Hilti also maintains cable- or petrol-powered solutions for jobs that require greater autonomy or duration, thus leaving operators the possibility of choosing the most suitable equipment depending on the specific job.

The Hilti manager continues: “The cable will still remain a presence on the construction site, especially for some more specific uses. In some cases, in fact, the choice of the cable remains the best option. Hilti supports its customers in choosing the most suitable solution from time to time based on the intensity, duration and specific operational needs of each process and construction site”.

The direction indicated by the expansion of the range is therefore to extend the field of use of the cordless without proposing it as an indistinct solution for any activity, but increasing the possibilities of choice even in the most demanding jobs.

Like all Hilti tools, the new Nuron solutions are also designed with attention to operator health, comfort and safety, through features such as vibration reduction, kickback control, integrated dust management and improved ergonomics, supported by restraint systems.

“The evolution of professional equipment cannot be evaluated exclusively on the basis of power, but by combining high performance and concrete attention to people’s health: we want to be the best partner for our customers in terms of productivity, health, safety and sustainability. The role of consultancy and training is also fundamental: technology, training and safety culture must proceed together, especially in a context like the current one marked by the shortage of specialized manpower. Like Hilti, we offer our customers tools but also skills to allow operators to make the most of them, focusing on digitalisation and more efficient construction methods and safe.”

The new Nuron solutions on test with the Power Up Tour 2026

To show the new battery-powered tools in action, Hilti is carrying out its Power Up Tour 2026 throughout Italy, a series of events with demo areas dedicated to the new Nuron solutions for demolition, cutting and drilling. After the stops in Bari, Franciacorta, Naples, Rimini and Turin, the calendar certainly still includes Catania: an opportunity for professionals and companies to see the tools in action and discuss the related applications on construction sites.
