Geographical distribution and residential sector

From a geographical point of view, Lombardy is confirmed as the region with the greater number of APEs issued (21.7% of the total), followed by Piedmont, Veneto, Emilia-Romagna and Lazio.

In the residential sectorwhich represents the majority of the sample analyzed, energy improvement interventions played a key role. The report reports a significant increase in major redevelopments, which represented 7.9% of the APEs issued, confirming a greater interest in the energy efficiency of buildings existing buildings.

Social role of the APE

Energy certification is not just a regulatory obligation, but is configured as one fundamental cultural lever.

It helps to create awareness between citizens and businesses regarding the importance of energy efficiency. The report highlights how the information contained in the APE helps to understand the environmental impact of consumption and promotes virtuous behaviour.

Regulatory developments and directives

The report also highlights the impact of new European directives on the energy performance of buildings. The EPBD Directive (Energy Performance of Buildings Directive) has introduced more stringent requirements for existing and new buildings, encouraging the adoption of innovative solutions.

The need for zero-emission buildings it therefore becomes central, requiring an integrated approach that considers not only energy efficiency but also environmental sustainability.

Despite the progress, the report highlights some future challenges. It is necessary to accelerate the redevelopment of less efficient buildings and guarantee wider access to incentive tools.
