The French government announces the relaunch of calls for tenders to develop onshore and offshore wind power as well as photovoltaics in order to increase electricity production and reduce France’s dependence.
THE French government relaunches its calls for tenders for wind power and photovoltaicsas part of the national energy roadmap. The goal is toaccelerate the transition to predominantly carbon-free energy consumption by 2035while securing the future of renewable production throughout the country.
A strategic relaunch of calls for tenders
There Minister Delegate for Energy, Maud Bregeonannounced at Bercy the resumption of calls for tenders for renewable electrical energiesintegrated into the PPE (Multi-annual Energy Programming) unveiled on February 13.
For offshore wind, the government has merged calls for tenders 9 and 10, representing a total power of 10 GW: 5 GW of installed wind power and 5 GW of floating wind power. These projects, spread across the seafront from Fécamp-Grand-Large to Fos, should see their first winners designated between the end of 2026 and the beginning of 2027.
On the photovoltaic, two calls for tenders are expected in July, while theonshore wind power will be the subject of a call for tenders from May. These initiatives aim to quickly mobilize the sector as well as to secure the supply of carbon-free energy throughout France.
Ambitious objectives for the energy transition
The PPE sets a clear course: reverse the share of fossil fuels in final consumptiontoday by 60%, to reach 60% decarbonized energies by 2030 and 70% in 2035. This strategy is based on a energy mix combining renewable and nuclear energies : the existing fleet will be optimized and six new generation EPR2 reactors will be launched, with a first reactor planned for 2038.
This relaunch of calls for tenders is part of a desire to:
– reduce dependence on fossil fuels ;
– Strengthening energy sovereignty ;
– And support France towards a more sustainable and resilient model.
