The Levpano® equipped with a silent winch marks a notable development for Mondelin. Beyond technical performance, the manufacturer has tackled a major irritant in the daily life of drywallers: noise.

Unveiled during the Artibat show in Rennes, in October 2025, this new generation of plate lifters is part of the continuity of a tool that has become essential on construction sites. By significantly reducing noise pollution, Mondelin sought to improve working conditionsin a sector where hearing health issues remain particularly pressing.

“We go from the nuisance of a drill to the noise level of a classic discussion, offering unprecedented comfort on the construction site” explains Arthur Narelli, here in the photo, BE & QSE technician at Mondelin. © Mondelin
A redesigned winch to sustainably reduce noise
The innovation lies in the mechanical heart of Levpano® : the research and development teams have redesigned the winch to equip it with a unique and patented system, which allows it to go from 85 dB to 60 dB, offering unrivaled hearing comfort for craftsmen. Above 85 dB, hearing protection would have been necessary. The result is clear: silence settles on the construction sites, where the ratchet previously resonated with each manipulation.
This acoustic gain takes place in a context where exposure to noise remains high in the construction industry. In 2024, the National Hearing Association noted that 83% of employees reported hearing discomfort and that 60% already noticed an impact on their hearing. Public Health France estimated, for its part, that 35.8% of workers were exposed to levels above 80 dB(A).
The patented system has been certified by Socotec, guaranteeing compliance with safety and reliability requirements and the tests carried out with partner craftsmen before marketing have highlighted concrete effects:
– reduction of fatigue at the end of the day;
– Reduced noise stress ;
– And improvement of exchanges on site.
Benefits that go beyond just technical performance to affect the very organization of work.
Thanks to its new patented winch, the noise of the Levpano® drops from 85 dB to only 60 dB: a noise reduction of 30%, for greater comfort, less fatigue and better daily communication. © YouTube video / © Mondelin
An innovation driven by an assumed industrial strategy
THE development of this new winch was accompanied by an investment of around one million euros. Mondelin has chosen to internalize its manufacturing at its Ambierle (Loire) site, thus strengthening control of its production chain. This decision resulted in a redevelopment of the industrial site such as the integration of new equipment, including a laser cutting machine.
Three full-time equivalent jobs were also created, confirming the company’s territorial roots and its desire to consolidate its industrial capabilities. “These industrial investments reflect our desire to innovate to offer reliable tools, always adapted to realities on the ground.” specifies Arthur Narelli.
Levpano®: almost half a century of continuous evolution
Imagined in 1976 by Roger Mondelin, the Levpano® deeply transformed the work of plasterers by making possible the independently and safely install plasterboard on the ceiling. Very quickly adopted by professionals, the equipment established itself as a standard on construction sites, well beyond the French market.

Over time, Levpano® has become part of a structured industrial development logic, going beyond the simple status of a tool to become the product of a technical and sustainable approach. Since its launch, nearly 300,000 plate lifters have been manufactured at the Ambierle site, in the Loire. © Mondelin
Each new generation has integrated feedback from the field, technological developments and a continuous flow of innovations, materialized by the regular filing of patents. As such, a new version of Levpano® is put on the market on average every two years, in order to stay in line with the expectations of craftsmen. This ability to develop the product over time contributes to the Mondelin’s position on the European plate lifter market.
As an extension of this strategy, the company has deployed an online platform dedicated to spare parts. Craftsmen can thus directly order the components necessary for the repair of their equipment, including for models marketed for more than ten years: a service which reflects a desire to make the products long-lasting, while facilitating their maintenance and daily use.
