As we saw in the dedicated article, the Ministry of Justice has recently announced a competition forpermanent hiring of 150 Technical Assistantswho will then be assigned to operate at the Department of Penitentiary Administration (DAP). To participate – by October 18th – possession of the is sufficient diploma of maturity, and the selection involves asingle written test.

150 Technical Assistants Ministry of Justice, role and duties

As already mentioned in the previous article, the role of Technical Assistant in the context of the Department of Penitentiary Administration mainly concerns tasks related to maintenance and technical management of penitentiary infrastructure.

According to the Professional Regulations of the DAP (annex C of the supplementary CCNL), the Technical Assistant carries out theoretical-practical activities of medium complexity in various sectors: construction, industrial, maritime and agricultural. The main tasks include repairing systems and products, carrying out evaluation tests on interventions, and identifying defects in finished products. These activities require the use of complex equipment and the ability to provide support to higher level professional profiles​.

From the DAP supplementary document, it emerges that the figure of the Technical Assistant absorbs the former B2, B3 and B3S positions in the technical sector. Required specifications include medium level theoretical and practical knowledgeskills of coordination And responsibility for operational results. Technical assistants work closely with other technical profiles, contributing to the good functioning of systems and structures.

150 Technical Assistants Ministry of Justice, salary

The winners of the Ministry of Justice competition will be classified in the second Area, economic position F2, with one gross annual salary of 19,930.15 euros.

To this figure are added the thirteenth month’s salary and other compensation or allowances provided for by the national collective labor agreement (CCNL). This framework also gives theaccess to specific benefitsin addition to the possibility of one career progression in higher salary bands.

150 Technical Assistants Ministry of Justice, places of work and constraints

The places of work will come assigned based on the operational needs of penitentiary institutions. Candidates will be able to choose your location based on the position obtained in the rankingtaking into account the priorities established by Law 104/1992 for people with disabilities.

After acceptance of the contract and presentation at the assigned office, those hired will be bound to remain at the site for at least five years​.

Competition for 150 Technical Assistants of the Ministry of Justice: what to study

As mentioned, the competition includes a single written testwhich includes a series of questions multiple choice. In addition to verifying technical and logical-operational skills, the test will evaluate knowledge of the English language and ability to use IT equipment. The main subjects the test will focus on include:

  • Main aspects ofPenitentiary systemwith focus on prison construction (L. 354/75; Presidential Decree 230/2000);
  • Public Contracts Code – Legislative Decree 36/2023, with particular attention to books I, II and III;
  • Safety in the workplace – Legislative Decree 81/2008, with particular regard to construction sites.
