Daikin’s new “Total Solutions” division develops complete offers – from design to operation, including the supply of machines – for large projects in the tertiary and industrial sectors.

On October 8, 2026, we visited theDaikin factory located in Cecchina, near Rome, Italy. We discovered not only a cutting-edge production tool, but also the reorganization of Daikin Europe to tackle major projects in collective housing, the tertiary sector and industry more effectively by mobilizing its entire technical offering of products and services through creation of its new Total Solutions divisionas well as the launch of two new ranges of R290 reversible heat pumps: the EWA(Y)K-CZ range from 20 to 85 kW and the QZ rangecomposed of two air/water models of 100 and 135 kW, cascadeable up to 2 MW.

Total Solutions for personalized offers

In 2025, Daikin Europe created within it the Total Solutions division to decarbonize processes and optimize energy consumption for large projects in collective housing, the tertiary sector, industry and even for heating networks. The idea is tobring the expertise of Daikin’s internal BE from the design of projects to determine the best solution by combining equipment designed and manufactured in Europe, then assisting companies in carrying out projects, and providing operational assistance with solutions for monitoring and managing installations over time.

With Total Solutionsfacing the customer, the idea consists of bringing together, through a single contact, the services traditionally provided by various stakeholders. Total Solutions guarantees large accounts and major projects personalized, efficient and sustainable installationswithout technical complexity or investment constraints constituting a brake. There Total Solutions approach includes:

– analysis of the need and study of the project, with all the necessary measurement campaigns and audits;

– The manufacture of tailor-made equipment;

– Planning of deliveries, equipment craning and choice of service providers;

– Commissioning of equipment by Daikin technicians ;

– The development and provision of supervision and performance monitoring tools;

– Maintenance of installations;

– When the project requires it, support for the search for financing, offers of leasing and the mobilization of aid available thanks to partners such as Sonergia Tertiaire or Greenflex Industrie.

A new organization within Daikin France

Within Daikin France, the teams dedicated to major projects will number around thirty people in 2026 and should double by 2030. Dakin France also appointed new managers for several important markets: data centers, industry, health, logistics, collective residential and heating networks. The company has trained business development teams, as well as key account managers capable of coordinating projects across France and Europe.

On the installation side, Daikin France bought BV Services in 2021, created in April 2009, specializing in new work in Climate Engineering and industrial refrigeration, as well as the maintenance and service of its installations. BV Services is MASE certified (Business Safety Improvement Manual), a French HSE (Safety, Health and Environment) management framework, the aim of which is to improve safety on construction sites and industrial sites at risk (petrochemicals, chemicals, energy, metallurgy), in particular for subcontracting companies working with prime contractors. It ensures that services are carried out without additional danger and reduces the number and severity of workplace accidents. As indicated by Robert Kagabo, the head of the Total Solutions division at Daikin France“the transformation that we are undertaking positions us as a reliable partner, capable of orchestrating an entire project. Our specialized teams, our study capabilities, our range of services and our network of partners, allow us to offer a turnkey response, whenever the project requires it.“.

Thanks to BV Services, Daikin France is now able to take care of the installation and maintenance of complex installations. The BV Services site in Bailleval (60, Oise) also serves as a logistics base for Daikin equipment. © BV Services

Total Solutions has already started two projects in 2025, which have resulted in several million euros of turnover in France. The first concerns the reconstruction of halls 2 and 3 of the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Center in Paris, which are aiming for BREAM Very Good certification. There solution developed by Total Solutions encompasses design, equipment, regulation and commissioning and includes 29 custom-made Air Handling Units, 115 outdoor VRV units and iTM/BACnet control systems. The commissioning of these two halls is planned for 2028, in time for the next PBS (Paris Builders Show).

The second project concerns the Soproreal site, a L’Oréal factory dedicated to the production of cosmetics. Daikin Total Solutions supports technical management to reduce energy consumption and achieve their decarbonization objectives. Four old heat pumps were replaced by four Daikin machines lower power, but with better efficiency. Daikin France, through Total Solutionsalso carried out an audit of existing ventilation solutions with a view to proposing optimization solutions.

New ranges at R290

L’Daikin factory in Cecchina was opened by the McQuay Air Conditioning group in 1968. It fell into the hands of Daikin when it bought McQuay in 2006. In 2013, increased by the acquisition of HydroKool LLC based in Arizona, theMcQuay activity was renamed Daikin Applied Europe and merged into the Daikin group. In total, Daikin Applied has three factories in Italy: Cecchina; a 9,000 m unit2 in Milan which employs 180 people, achieves an annual turnover of €75 million and specializes in CTA; and a power electronics factory in Vicenza. Daikin actually manufactures its own inverters to control its compressors. Daikin Appled Europe does not sell directly, but is a supplier to Daikin Europe to which it sells €500 million of equipment each year.

During the visit to the Cecchina factory, Daikin presented his new ranges of R290 machines which will be launched by the end of 2026.

The EWYK-QZ range

There EWYK-QZ range consists of two R290 reversible air/water models which displays a GWP (Global Warming Power or GWP Global Warming Potential) of 3 or 0.02 according to the latest IPCC AR6 assessment, of 100 and 135 kW, cascadeable up to 2 MW. Their SCOP reaches 4.2 and their SEER 4.8. They are equipped with scroll compressors with frequency variator and EC (Direct Current) motor fans controlled by Inverter. A single electrical connection cable powers up to four modules. The hydraulic manifold kit, including all inter-unit connections, can be pre-installed at the factory to further reduce on-site installation time.

There EWYK-QZ range offers a water leaving temperature of up to 75°C at an outside temperature of -20°C. Which allows direct boiler replacement for the most demanding applications. A dedicated pump module, composed of an inverter pump and an 18 liter expansion tank, is directly integrated into the group to create a fully autonomous hydraulic system. In cold mode, the two EWYK-QZ models offer a chilled water leaving temperature of up to -12°C at an outside temperature of 35°C. This allows it to be used in both air conditioning and refrigeration.

The EWA(Y)K-CZ range

The second R290 air/water range, called Daikin EWA(Y)K-CZoffers four powers: 20-30 kW with 1 compressor and one fan, 40-60 kW with 1 compressor and 2 fans, 70 kW with 2 compressors and 3 fans, 85 kW with two compressors and 4 fans. It has similar characteristics to the larger power range: water leaving temperature of 75°C at -20°C outside temperature, -15°C chilled water leaving temperature at +46°C outside, Inverter scroll compressor, frequency inverter pump and EC fans controlled by Inverter.

These four machines are available either in a cold only version with SEER varying from 5.10 to 5.48 or in a reversible version with a SCOP from 4.38 to 4.82. Their high heating performance is obtained thanks to the use of new steam reinjection scroll compressors.

Daikin Safety Shield

As the R290 is classified A3, these two new ranges are equipped with a set of safety devices, called Daikin Safety Shield. In the models in the EWA(Y)K-CZ rangefor example, the device has two leak detectors, ATEX certified exhaust fans for the compressor compartment and electrical connection box, an audible warning in case of leak detection and all safety components are connected to a different power supply. The electrical panel compartment is maintained at positive pressure to avoid the possible introduction of R290 in the event of a leak. If an R290 leak is detected, the machine is automatically stopped and the audible alarm is triggered. Moreover, all Daikin partners – installers, distributors and transporters – receive training in handling machines loaded with R290. The refrigerant charge varies from 2.65 kg for an EWAK-CZ N machine with 17.6 kW nominal cooling power to 5.6 kW 71.38 kW.

The Cecchina factory has received €30 million in investments over the past 10 years, including €12 million for small cooling units. A research building that houses 80 engineers and test rooms has been constructed. The climatic chamber can test machines up to 2 MW of power. It is Eurovent certified for the European market and AHRI (Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute) certified for the American market. © PP

Besides R290, Daikin continues research with HFO R-1234ze to manufacture machines capable of providing a leaving water temperature of 90°C. For the refrigeration market, Daikin uses CO2 and ammonia. Daikin is also engaged in a research program to develop machines for industry and capable of producing a leaving water temperature of 300°C using HFO R-1234zd.

The Cecchina factory manufactures 6,000 screw compressors per year. 4,000 are used locally and 2,000 are exported to the United States. © PP
