DOMUS International Restoration and Conservation Award Fassa Bortolo: the 10th edition for the works created is underway, prize money of 13 thousand euros

Who can participate: designers, studios and companies

The Award is open to a very wide professional audience:

  • individual designers,
  • architecture and engineering studies,
  • temporary groups of designers,
  • construction companies that carried out the works.

Each candidate can present only one work, completed no more than ten years from the date of the announcement.
Buildings or architectural complexes of any nature can be candidates, as long as the interventions have been carried out in compliance with the principles of contemporary architectural restoration.

Prizes foreseen for the 10th edition

The total prize money for the 2025-2026 edition is equal to 13,000 euros, divided between:

  • First prize: 5,000 euros and gold medal;
  • Two second prizes: 2,500 euros each and silver medals;
  • Fassa Bortolo special prize, dedicated to interventions that have been able to use, in a manner consistent with the principles of conservation, the technical solutions of the Fassa Bortolo Integrated System or related systems (plasters, restoration, coat, colour, plasterboard, etc.): 3,000 euros > requires the sending of specific documentation certifying the effective use of the Fassa Bortolo System products

Any Special Mentions awarded based on the jury’s judgment may be awarded. The announcement also provides the possibility of defining a shortlist, useful for valorising deserving projects that were not among the winners.

In addition to the cash prizes, the selected designers and companies will be invited to Ferrara, in March 2026, to present their works during the Restoration and Cultural Heritage Days – VIII editionand will be published in sector magazines.

What participants must present

The required documentation (entirely digital) is divided into nine alphanumeric folders and includes:

  • competitor’s CV;
  • project sheet (client, chronology, team);
  • summary report and technical report;
  • comparative before/after graphics;
  • at least 12 significant photographs;
  • A1 boards and 100×70 boards;
  • additional documentation for the Fassa Bortolo Special Prize.

Award Jury

The Jury of the 10th edition of the Award is composed as follows:

  • Marco Mulazzani – President of the Juryprofessor of History of Architecture at the University of Ferrara
  • Gonzalo Byrne – architect, President of the Ordem dos Arquitectos de Portugal
  • Werner Tscholl – architect, recognized for numerous interventions on historic buildings in Alto Adige
  • Renata Codello – architect, General Secretary of the Giorgio Cini Foundation, former Superintendent for Venice and the lagoon
  • Marcello Balzani – Secretary of the Juryprofessor of Drawing at the University of Ferrara and director of the DIAPReM laboratory (UNIFE)

As specified in the announcement, the main documents subject to evaluation will be the A1 tables and the 100×70 table, together with the graphic, photographic and descriptive documentation illustrating the methodological approach, principles of intervention and results obtained.

Registration and deadlines: 16 December 2025 and 14 January 2026

The request for participation must be sent exclusively online via the dedicated page. The main deadlines are:

  • 16 December 2025 – deadline for registration for the Award;
  • 14 January 2026 – deadline for sending digital documents via large format email to the address indicated in the announcement;
  • by March 2026 – publication of the results and announcement of the winners.

Participation in the Award requires the payment of an entry fee of 120 euros (to be paid by 14 January 2026 via the link that will be sent via email to each candidate), necessary to allow the organizing body to support the technical costs of managing the files and printing on high resolution photographic paper with mounting on a rigid support of the plates for the planned exhibitions.
