With the Casing dossier created in collaboration with Saint-Gobain Italia, which recently concluded, we offered industry professionals a technical in-depth course dedicated to the building envelope and key topics such as energy efficiency and thermal comfort.
The initiative, divided into three monographic newsletters, had the objective of:
- promote the technical culture linked to the design and creation of high-performance enclosures;
- delve into the technologies and innovative solutions developed by Saint-Gobain to improve comfort, safety and sustainability;
- offer technical professionals a thematic path in three stages, dedicated respectively to glazing, roofing and insulation, with technical contributions, case histories and practical guides.
Let’s see the structure and contents of the three focuses of Casing dossier.
Focus 1: Glazing for facades and interiors
The first stage of Dossier drew attention to the Saint-Gobain Glass Manual 2025, the technical catalog of solutions for facades and interiors, enriched by project sheets and application instructions updated according to European regulations. The insights touched on central themes such as:
- insulating glass and thermal performance, with analysis on the influence of thickness, gas and ducts;
- smart glass, intelligent glass with active control of light and heat for modular and adaptive transparency.
An interesting Saint-Gobain case history was then presented: the solutions used for the Borgo Santandrea resort on the Amalfi Coast.

Focus 2: Coverings and thermal comfort
The second in-depth study was dedicated to roofing and thermal comfort. The topics concerned the use of high-performance materials to improve energy efficiency, acoustic comfort and durability of buildings. Among the insights:
- the resolution of thermal bridges on the roof, both pitched and flat, with a focus on the construction aspects to be considered during the verification phase;
- the maintenance of condominium roofs, with in-depth analysis of the criteria and methods for allocating expenses.
Furthermore, the case of the Ancona primary school was examined, where Saint-Gobain systems were used for thermal insulation and waterproofing of the roofs.

Focus 3: Insulation of the building envelope
The third and final release of the Dossier closed the journey by focusing on the insulation of the building envelope, with a focus dedicated to Weber ETICS systems and Saint-Gobain mineral wool solutions for insulation and interior environments. The proposed articles also explored:
- a guide to the most common mistakes in the creation of thermal coats;
- strategies for correcting thermal bridges, with practical examples of interventions to guarantee continuity of insulation and long-lasting performance.
Finally, the intervention for the new municipal headquarters of Caldarola was presented, an anti-seismic building built with Saint-Gobain dry systems for comfort, safety and fire resistance.

The value of collaboration
The collaboration between Ediltecnico and Saint-Gobain Italia confirmed the value of the synergy between specialized technical dissemination and innovation in construction. Through the contents of Casing dossierit was possible to offer professionals an authoritative and updated source of technical information and concrete examples of the application of efficient and sustainable construction solutions.
