Midea manufactures and ships 20,000 air conditioners to France in seven days

Faced with sharply increasing demand in France, the Chinese company Midea has doubled its production capacity for mobile air conditioners. The manufacturer manufactured 20,000 air conditioners in three and a half days.

Priority for the French market

Midea mobilized transportation by plane and fast train to transport parts to its assembly plant located in Wuhu in Anhui province in central China. To speed up delivery, the 20,000 units intended for France were shipped on Saturday July 11 by truck to Europe. This reduced the transport time by 15 days compared to the two months of transport by sea. THE PortaSplit should arrive on the French market around July 27 or 28.

According to Chinese customs, air conditioner exports from China increased by 60% during the first 15 days of July. By value in May 2026, China exported $3.33 million of air conditioners, an increase of 186% compared to May 2025.

The hunt for the PortaSplit

Thanks to its ease of implementation and its power, the PortaSplit has experienced exceptional popularity. According to Google Trends and the South China Morning Postonline searches reached their highest point in five years during the month of June in France, Italy and Spain.

Introduced in Europe at €900 in 2025, the PortaSplit has increased to €1,199 in retail price. There are now search sites, including MideaFinder, which track in real time PortaSplit stocks across Europe.
