Seismic assessment and intervention techniques for existing RC buildings

The second edition of this volume, completely revised and enriched with new practical examples, provides structural engineers and all those professionals who, in general, operate in the field of seismic assessment of existing reinforced concrete buildings, with the tools needed to carry out the appropriate seismic safety checks in accordance with current legislation in an even more conscious manner. In this regard, the most appropriate structural modeling/analysis strategies in both a static (pushover) and dynamic (time-history) non-linear context are discussed. The most widespread intervention techniques for the rehabilitation of existing cast-in-place and prefabricated reinforced concrete structures are also discussed, also using examples of numerical modeling of some seismic adaptation/improvement interventions. The text refers to the updated version of the Technical Standards for Construction – i.e. the NTC 2018 – and to the related explanatory circular (Circular 21 January 2019 n. 7). Rui Pinho Engineer, full professor at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Pavia, founding partner of the companies Seismosoft and Mosayk, is the author of countless scientific publications on the subject of seismic risk assessment of existing structures. Federica Bianchi Engineer, founding partner and CEO of Mosayk srl, works as a freelancer with particular attention to the seismic vulnerability assessment of reinforced concrete buildings. Roberto Nascimbene Engineer, associate professor at the IUSS Pavia, founding partner of Mosayk srl, has particularly studied the issues of advanced numerical modeling in the field of civil engineering.
