Perspective Smart City 2026: three days in Rome on the city of the future

Rome national regeneration platform

The 2026 edition opens on Tuesday 26 May at 6pm with the plenary conference “Rome is renewed, Italy is growing. The Capital as a national platform for regeneration”.

The Mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri will participate in the inaugural session. Among others, speeches by Gianluca Lavorani, Director of Public Administration of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, Nathan Levialdi Ghiron, Rector of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, Francesca De Sanctis, Vice President of ANCE Roma, Fabio Bellini, President and CEO of Diritti per Roma Spa, and Elena Goitini, CEO of BNL BNP Paribas Italia are also expected.

The themes at the center of the program

The program addresses some of the most relevant issues for the future of cities: use of data in urban regeneration strategies, physical and digital infrastructures, right to live, environmental sustainability, urban governance, public-private partnerships, intelligent mobility and last mile logistics.

On Wednesday 27 May, among others, panels on data analysis and real estate strategies, urban communities, right to live, metropolitan digitalisation, smart mobility and urban logistics are planned.

On Thursday 28 May the discussion will continue with a focus on the energy issue of cities, on the relationships between architecture, placemaking and sustainability, and on the communication of architecture.

A comparison between public, private and innovation

Perspective 2026 aims to create a space for dialogue between different skills: administrations, businesses, designers, investors and innovators. The objective is to link urban regeneration and digital transformation as complementary levers to build more sustainable, inclusive, connected cities and capable of generating value for communities.

The event enjoys the patronage of numerous institutional actors, including the State Property Agency, ANCE Rome, ANCI, ANCI Lazio, CDP, Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces, IFEL, INU, Invitalia, OICE, Order of PPC Architects of the Province of Rome, RICS, University of Rome Tor Vergata, UPI and Utilitalia. The initiative’s main partners are Amazon Web Services, ApKappa and Edison Next; event partners BNL BNP Paribas and KPMG.
