Construct a building. Construction techniques, systems and materials

Explaining the construction phases of a building is not a simple thing: architecture has historically always been more of a highly practical discipline than a theoretical one. In the design activity, the professional must be able to combine creativity, aesthetic appearance, comfort, functionality and technical solutions, reaching the definition of the construction details. The objective of this book is to provide an operational tool (both for the designer and for the student) that explains the structural and typological characteristics of buildings (from the foundations to the building envelope, from the vertical and horizontal elevations to the roofs, ending with the systems), construction materials and construction procedures practiced in the broad context of architectural technology (PRG and PGT, Building Regulations, Hygiene Regulations, etc.). The book contains a large repertoire of executive techniques in the construction sector (expanded and integrated for the second edition of this text), focusing on those that are now part of consolidated practice. The iconographic apparatus accompanying the text (functional diagrams and scale construction details) is integrated with a vast series of construction site images that describe the processing phases of the various technological units analysed.
