What is CITYBIT and how it works
CITYBIT is a modular and scalable system for monitoring air quality in external and internal environments, designed to natively integrate into urban management processes and high-traffic contexts such as schools, hospitals, public offices, green areas, restricted traffic zones, industrial plants, car parks and much more.
The service is able to identify health risks in advance and is divided into two complementary lines:
- CITYBIT Outdoor, with control units connected in 4G and designed for monitoring in urban and industrial environments;
- CITYBIT Indoor, with Wi-Fi sensors that are easy to install in closed environments such as classrooms, libraries, offices and healthcare facilities.
The CITYBIT service starts with specialized technical consultancy that supports in the definition of the areas to be monitored and in the choice of the most suitable devices (indoor or outdoor), selecting the parameters to be detected based on the objectives.
The system then collects, analyzes and interprets environmental data in real time, making it available through a digital platform accessible from any device. The interface allows for intuitive and continuous consultation, with dynamic displays and customizable alert thresholds, to facilitate reading even for non-technical personnel. Periodic and/or instant reports can also be generated from the platform, ready to be used in administrative, healthcare, management or inspection fields, to support timely decisions, regulatory documentation and transparent communication.
What CITYBIT measures
CITYBIT detects a wide range of fundamental parameters to evaluate air quality and environmental impact:
- Outdoors:
- Harmful gases: VOC (volatile organic compounds), CO, NO2, SO2, H2S, O3
- Particulate matter: PM1.0, PM2.5, PM10
- Environmental factors: temperature, humidity, dew point, pressure, environmental noise
- Indoors:
- Internal pollutants: VOC, CO2, O3, CH4, NO2, CO
- Environmental comfort: temperature, relative humidity, noise
Each sensor covers an area of approximately 1 km², with the possibility of self-calibration thanks to a distributed machine learning system which increases its reliability.
Advantages of the service
CITYBIT is not a simple technology to install, but an integrated service that connects sensors, people and strategies for air-environment monitoring. CITYBIT observes, interprets and returns data that is reliable, easily readable and useful for making quick decisions or planning intelligently.
By providing a continuous environmental monitoring service, CITYBIT is designed to concretely help technicians, managers and RSPPs with:
- the detection of critical parameters in real time, through indoor and outdoor environmental monitoring units;
- a digital platform to visualize, analyze and share data;
- automatic alerts when set thresholds are exceeded;
- exportable reports for DVR, AIA, ISO certifications or ESG reporting.
In advanced contexts, CITYBIT can also be connected to external systems (e.g. ventilation, process sensors), which the organization or manager can decide to activate when critical exceedances occur.
An integrated service, ready to use
CITYBIT is proposed by APKAPPA, a company with consolidated experience in digital services for the PA, and is part of the ecosystem of smart city solutions of the Maggioli Group.
