With the HTC-P2P, Hilti offers a connection system intended to simplify the assembly of cross-laminated timber panels. Objective: reduce installation times and improve on-site intervention conditions.
Publi-Information
Presented at the end of April 2026, the HTC-P2P connector is part of Hilti’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the wood construction market. Faced with installation methods considered complex and time-consuming, the manufacturer is introducing a system which thoroughly reviews the steps for aligning and fixing CLT panels.
As a reminder, the Hilti group designs and supplies products, systems, software and services globally to the construction and energy industries. Present in more than 120 countries and with around 34,000 employees, the company says it relies on a direct relationship with its customers, as well as a culture of innovation and high quality standards.
Founded in 1941, the group is headquartered in Schaan, Liechtenstein, and remains owned by the Martin Hilti Family Trust. In 2025, Hilti achieved a turnover of more than 6.3 billion Swiss francs.
Simplify an implementation that is still restrictive
Alignment and fixation in one step
On the wood construction sites, installation of CLT panels still relies heavily on multi-phase processes, including a lengthy alignment process in which CLT panels are moved into an approximate position, then precisely aligned and assembled. A succession of operations which requires time and handling and exposes companions to repeated handling. In fact, the HTC-P2P connector was designed to group these steps. Made up of two beech LVL elements associated with a steel screwing mechanismit allowsalign and tighten the panels simultaneously.

By combining resistance to tensile and shear loads, the HTC-P2P effectively replaces traditional solutions such as nailed cover strips or inclined wood screws. The connector is factory milled using CNC pre-machining, for precise and repeatable integration into the panel. Its geometry is available in several wood modeling software as well as in the Hilti library, facilitating its integration into digital workflows. © Hilti
On site, the implementation is based on a specific adapter for impact wrench, capable of generating a traction force of up to 1.5 tonnes. The system tolerates up to 5 mm of misalignment and a joint gap of 20 mm, while ensuring positioning and final tightening.

By replacing traditional solutions, the device greatly reduces the number of operations required. For example, for 10 meters of panels subjected to 10 kN/m of shear, four connectors are sufficient where a classic solution uses up to 180 nails. © Hilti
Saved time and improved working conditions
According to Hilti, theuse of the HTC-P2P would reduce installation time by up to 80% compared to conventional methods. This simplification also results in a reduction in handling and an improvement in safety conditions on site.
Perfectly flush with the surface of the panel once installed, it offers a clean and neat finish. The system is designed to connect two CLT panels of different nature – direction of span, number of plies and type of joint – thus offering great design flexibility. It meets static, seismic and fire requirements, according to the characteristics of assembled CLT panels.
A complete solution with added Hilti support
To ensure the best performance, Hilti recommends using the HTC-P2P with the installation adapter which connects to an impact wrench – the SIW 6AT-22 – to achieve quick and simplified fixing. Hilti also makes its sizing software available free of charge in order to facilitate the machining of CLT.
It is also possible to benefit from an even more complete solution: SPEC2SITE, offering complete support across the entire value chain, from the design office to the construction site, via complete sizing software and services, technical resources and training supports and finally assistance on the construction site as well as in the offices.
The product characteristics are as follows:
– time saving: connector allows you to align and fix the CLT in a single stepit offers wider tolerances for faster installation, no hammers or framing clamps are required;
– Simplicity: with the tool and the adapter anyone can install it, it is removable to facilitate adjustments on site, it is compatible with protection products against humidity;
– Integrated into the workflow: HTC-P2P is available in commercial CAD software, can be integrated into the CNC manufacturing process and comes with dedicated design software;
– And, finally, it benefits from an ETE for a compliant structural design, it offers high shear and tensile strength, it is approved for static and seismic design.

With a height of 60 or 90mm. HTC-P2P is recommended for use in CLT panels with a minimum thickness of 80mm. It will be available for purchase from September 2026 in all Hilti channels – sales, website, agency networks, Building Platform corners and customer service. © Hilti
