With the beginning of September 2024, Italian families in possession of the Social card “Dedicated to you” will also be able to use their bonus to address the increase in fuel prices.

This measure, which will last until February 2025, is the result of an agreement between the Energy Union for Mobility (Unem) and other associations in the sector with the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy.

But who exactly is this bonus intended for? And what are the requirements to obtain it?

The requirements to obtain the fuel bonus

The fuel bonus It is reserved exclusively for families with an ISEE lower than 15 thousand euros, already in possession of the Social card “Dedicata a te”. To benefit from this contribution, none of the members of the family unit must receive other benefits such as the Inclusion Allowance, the Naspi, Dis-Coll (monthly unemployment benefit) or the Cassa Integrazione Guadagni (Cig).

On the contrary, priority will be given to families with at least three members, allowing them to obtain the contribution without having to submit any application, since the municipality of residence will contact the beneficiaries.

However, it is important to underline that families who already receive other economic support measures will be excluded from the bonus.

How much is the bonus and how does it work?

The “Dedicated to you” Social card offers a total amount of 500 euroswhich can be used not only for refueling, but also for purchasing essential food items and local public transport passes.

The contribution is paid in bimonthly installments of 80 euros, equivalent to about 40 euros per month. However, there are limitations: the card cannot be used to purchase alcoholic beverages, and not all fuel distributors participate in the initiative.

Furthermore, as established by the decree of 4 June 2024, the bonus must be used in its entirety by February 28, 2025If no payment is made by this date, the benefit will lapse.

This aspect is fundamental for beneficiaries, who must be careful not to leave their Social card unused so as not to lose the right to the bonus.

Instructions for use and important warnings

Social card holders will be able to take advantage of the fuel bonus at participating distributors. The system provides the possibility of obtaining direct discounts on fuel or vouchers to use for subsequent purchases. It is essential, however, to check whether your trusted distributor has joined the initiative, since not all sales points are part of it.

The cards are strictly nominative, which means that can only be used by the cardholder indicated on the card. This aspect is crucial to avoid misunderstandings or problems in using the bonus. Furthermore, as already mentioned, if the cardholder does not make any payment by the deadline of February 28, 2025, he will lose the right to use the benefit, since the credit will no longer be available.

Paying attention to these warnings is essential to not lose the government contribution, an important help in a period of inflation and rising prices like the current one.

Conclusions

The 500 euro fuel bonus represents concrete support for Italian families with an ISEE of less than 15 thousand euros, helping them to cope with the increase in fuel prices and daily expenses.

The “Dedicated to you” social card, in addition to fuel, allows the purchase of basic food items and local public transport passes, thus contributing to improving the quality of life of the most vulnerable families.

However, it is important to respect the rules established for the use of the bonus, such as verifying the adhesion of the distributors to the initiative and using the credit entirely by the expiration date. These small measures will allow the beneficiaries to make the most of this precious government contribution.
