Characteristics of the new building

The new building, approximately 400 m2 designed in the name of environmental sustainability, was created thanks to donations from citizens, businesses and associations of the Emilia-Romagna Region and the intervention of the Marche Region. The steel load-bearing structure, the wooden roof and the completely dry Saint-Gobain Italia perimeter infills make the new headquarters totally anti-seismic, capable of withstanding even very intense earthquakes.

The main building, conceived with an “L” shape, provides spaces for the Mayor and the Council, a council room and all the technical and administrative offices of the Municipality. A second building, currently nearing completion, will house the rooms for the City Council and the institutional bodies of the institution.

Design requests and Saint-Gobain solutions used

The first design request involved the creation of lightweight, anti-seismic and high-performance perimeter walls in terms of thermo-acoustic insulation and resistance to atmospheric agents.

Saint-Gobain Italia intervened by supplying systems for Gyproc GX1 Clima external infills, composed of an external wall and an internal false wall, spaced from each other by a cavity which was necessary to incorporate the steel load-bearing structures.

The internal false wall is made up of a Gyproc Gyprofile metal structure – with a layer of Isover Arena34 mineral wool – and two standard Gyproc Wallboard sheets. The external wall is instead composed of a Gyproc External Profile metal structure – with a further layer of Isover Arena34 mineral wool – an internal Gyproc DuraGyp Activ’Air® slab and a Gyproc Glasroc®

The wall “package” ends with the external insulation system made with the high-density Isover Clima34 G3 glass wool insulation panel, anchored to the Gyproc Glasroc® Finally, the Saint-Gobain Italia finishing cycle is applied to the Isover Clima34 G3 panel with the webercote siloxcover R colored siloxane coating, after applying the specific weberprim RC14 primer.

The second design request involved the creation of modular and anti-seismic internal false ceilings, to hide the passage of the systems and guarantee acoustic and aesthetic performance.

Saint-Gobain Italia intervened with Eurocoustic Tonga A22 modular false ceiling systems, capable of simultaneously ensuring anti-seismic performance, strong sound absorption, high humidity resistance and adequate fire resistance. The false ceilings are composed of square high-density rock wool panels mounted on a visible Gyproc Linetec Plus T24 structure, made anti-seismic by the Gyproc GySeismic Top system.
