The TFA Sostegno 2026 A step also confirmed by the MUR operational note of 14 April 2026 (prot. no. 4660), with which the organizational process for the 2025/2026 academic year was formally started.
The provision, sent to state and non-state universities (excluding online universities), implements the needs expressed by the Ministry of Education and Merit: a total of 30,241 places will be activated, distributed between nursery, primary and lower secondary schools. A significant change compared to the previous cycle is the absence of places for secondary school, for which the indicated requirement is zero.
This is an event awaited by thousands of aspiring teachers, including many graduates in architecture, engineering and technical disciplines, as well as technical graduates interested in teaching. Let’s look at the details we know so far.
TFA Sostegno 2026, activation process and expected calendar
The administrative path is already mapped out. The universities will be asked to insert the proposals for the activation of the courses in the RAD-SUA CdS Database, open from 23 April to 7 May 2026, indicating the training potential for each school level in compliance with the Ministerial Decree of 8 February 2019, n. 92. At the end of this phase, the MUR ministerial decree is expected, which will officially authorize the start of the cycle and define the national dates of the pre-selective tests. Subsequently, between June and July, the individual universities will publish notices with costs, places and registration methods.
The ministerial note also introduces relevant operational indications: universities will have to consider those eligible for the

In fact, the need is concentrated above all in Northern Italy: Lombardy, Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna and Veneto alone represent approximately 60% of the available places. Followed by Puglia, Lazio and Liguria, while the regions with less availability remain Molise and Basilicata.
The most significant data, however, is the zero requirement for secondary school, a clear discontinuity compared to the 10th cycle, which instead allocated a significant portion of places to high schools. For aspiring support teachers of this level, this means that – barring changes in the final decree – no paths will be activated in the 11th cycle.
TFA Support, requirements and opportunities for technicians, engineers and surveyors
Even for graduates or diploma holders in the technical area – such as engineers, architects, surveyors and technical graduates in general – the TFA Sostegno represents a concrete opportunity to enter the world of school.
- Graduates in architecture and engineering can access secondary school if they meet the requirements for a competition class (suitable qualification + any required credits).
- Technical graduates, including surveyors, can still access the courses for the ITP, Practical Technical Teachers: until 31 December 2026 (and no longer 2025) only the diploma (technical or professional which gives access to one of the ITP competition classes in Table B of Presidential Decree 19/2016) is still valid, without the obligation of a degree or the possession of 24 ECTS credits.
This regulatory window is particularly relevant for those who intend to embark on a school career in the short term, before the definitive introduction of the new, more restrictive requirements.
TFA Support, access tests and path structure
The selection methods remain those defined by Ministerial Decree 92/2019 and by Ministerial Decree 7 August 2020, n. 90. Access to TFA Support is limited in number and involves three phases:
- pre-selective test (multiple choice test),
- written test with open questions and case analysis,
- final oral exam.
Exemptions from the pre-selection are also confirmed for those who have completed, in the last ten school years, at least three years of supported service in the specific grade, or for candidates with a disability greater than 80%. Furthermore, if the number of those enrolled in the pre-selection is less than or equal to double the places advertised by the university for a given grade, the test is canceled and everyone has direct access to the written test.
While waiting for the official decree, the advice for interested technical professionals is to check the access requirements and monitor university tenders: the TFA Sostegno continues to represent one of the main channels for stable access to teaching, in a sector still characterized by strong demand for specialized personnel.
TFA Support 2026, how to prepare
We remind you that the pre-selective test of the TFA Sostegno does not consist of a generic general culture test: it requires a solid knowledge of special pedagogy, legislation on inclusion, developmental psychology and teaching methodologies, as well as linguistic and text comprehension skills.
