Maintenance, reconstruction and energy saving

This manual is an updated and expanded re-edition of the volume “Demolitions and Reconstructions” made necessary to respond to the growing attention towards the issues of sustainability, land consumption, redevelopment of existing buildings, structural safety and improvement of energy performance of buildings by the legislator, technicians and clients. The work is updated to the discipline of demolition/deconstruction and reconstruction interventions, as established by the Consolidated Law on Construction (Presidential Decree 380/2001 lastly amended by Legislative Decree 222/2016), and presents an extensive in-depth study on standardized modules and unified systems prepared for the interventions that can be carried out with the building SCIA. The safety procedures are also accompanied by a chapter on demolition techniques which, also through the illustration of the equipment that can be used, dedicates attention to the safety checks to be carried out at the beginning of the work activities, based on knowledge of the resistance characteristics of the materials constituting the structural elements. The volume is completed with chapters dedicated to building/system interaction (which well represents the fulcrum around which the sectors of environmental sustainability and energy efficiency gravitate) and to the maintenance over time of the performance characteristics of components and systems construction (design and management of maintenance in construction), to conclude with a “focus” on the architecture of living.Nicola Mordà, Civil engineer, author of numerous technical publications.Owner of a structural and seismic design studio with offices in Turin and abroad. He has collaborated and followed important projects; deals with regulatory issues, with particular reference to structures and new technologies in civil engineering. Chiara Carlucci, Architect, graduated from the Polytechnic of Turin. Since 2014 he has been dealing with issues relating to urban space and participatory planning; after having acquired knowledge on the topic in the city of Berlin, today it is committed to spreading, in other contexts and other cities, good Berlin practices in which the spatial and social dimensions meet, promoting a stronger bond between the inhabitant and the city. He currently carries out a professional activity in Turin in the design sector in Italy and abroad. Carmine De Simone, Engineer, CTU, active in the design, construction management and safety coordination of civil, commercial and industrial settlements; expert in managing the construction process and managing real estate assets. Monica Stroscia, Architect, graduated from the Polytechnic of Turin, deals with architectural design, interior design and management. After an initial working activity in Italy he moved abroad where he began to collaborate with important design studios; he currently owns a design studio in Turin where he develops projects of various types, retracing the entire design process, from the concept phase to the final testing.
