Technological architectural design
The publication provides a systematized compendium of knowledge on the problems posed by technological design and the construction of an architectural organism. The methodological and technical information tools illustrated are aimed at better understanding the operational relationships existing between the design of a building and the subsequent executive phase, up to the phases of use, disposal and reuse. The text is divided into three parts.Project. The first part addresses the topic of technological design of building systems and construction techniques, innovative components and industrial products for construction. The technologies of concrete, steel, glass, wood and dry technologies are analyzed in their morphological, performance and integration aspects, and in their mutual design and construction implications. The evolution of materials, techniques and production systems is described in relation to the most recent experiments, also promoted in our country thanks to greater environmental awareness and made possible by the design and production innovations in the field today. Process. In the second part, the information necessary to acquire awareness of the architectural project as a design process, characterized by sequences, operator roles, methodologies and new operational and ICT instruments, is summarized in a synoptic framework and in an evolutionary and circular scenario. The modeling of the building process extends from planning, design, construction and management, up to the disposal, recycling and reuse phase, through which the circularity of the process generates a new implementation episode. The text is updated in the regulatory references up to the most recent regulatory transpositions regarding public contracts for architectural and engineering works, supplies and services. Product. In the third part, the project is considered as a product of the design process, illustrating its division into intermediate products, which are gradually more complete and detailed, until reaching the integrated executive project, a guiding and control tool for architectural quality, to guarantee the construction of the It operates in accordance with the client’s intentions and in compliance with economic, social and environmental sustainability. The graphic representation of the project gives an account of the codified communication and technical information apparatus, a common language among all the operators involved, with hints at the new methods of digital modeling and digital twins for architecture. The extensive iconographic apparatus accompanying the text (figures and functional diagrams, drawings and construction details) is systematized by topic and integrated with a large number of construction site images, which more fully describe the phases of work that have the greatest impact on the construction quality of the organism building. This with the aim of bringing the concreteness of the construction act, in all its forms, into the technical documentation to support the designer: real and therefore imperfect. The IT support, available in the cloud, contains 180 drawings and construction details of architectures, mostly built, organized according to the codification of the technological system, having a direct exemplary reference to the discussion of the paragraphs of the first part of the text. Eugenio ArbizzaniArchitect. Professor of Architectural Technology at the DiAP Department of Sapienza University of Rome. Member of the PhD in: “Planning, Design, Architectural Technology”, – Member of the Scientific Teaching Council in the Masters: “BIM Building Information Modeling” (Sapienza), “Corruption and institutional system” (Sapienza-ANAC) and “ Tall building design” (IUAV). Member of the Board of Directors of SITdA, Italian Society of Architectural Technology. Develops research and projects on the issues most closely linked to integrated design and management tools for implementation processes for the creation of complex building systems and the regeneration of existing real estate assets. Among his most significant projects are the new hospitals in Olbia, Ferrara, Todi and Ragusa; the Third Tower of the Emilia Romagna Region; residences for the elderly in Piedmont, Lombardy, Emilia Romagna and Lazio; residential and tertiary buildings for the university. He is the scientific director of the ECO.H. housing system, with which he is developing social housing projects oriented towards environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.
