Great success for the latest edition of SAIE – The Construction Fair: design, construction, systemswhich ended last Saturday in Bologna with an excellent participation of professionals and operators in the sector: i there were 40,277 participantswith an increase of +7% compared to the 2022 edition; also growing exhibiting companieswhich this year were 560an increase of 30% compared to 2022.
This data, also combined with the number of partner associations – reached quota this year 48 – confirm SAIE as the reference trade fair event for the construction industry. Next year SAIE will be held in Bari – from 23 to 25 October 2025 at the Nuova Fiera del Levante – and then return to Bologna in 2026.
SAIE 2024: many studies presented at the fair
During SAIE 2024, various studies and analyzes dedicated to the construction sector were presented. Of note is the presentation – during the inaugural conference – of Federcostruzioni report which analyzed the state of health of the sector. The positive numbers for 2023 are highlighted: the value of production reached 624 billion euros (+6.9% in current values compared to 2022) and employment increased by 76 thousand units (+2.5%), bringing construction workers at 3.1 million. Among others, the President of Federcostruzioni, Paola Marone, and the President of ANCE Federica Brancaccio were present at the inauguration, who discussed the new Budget Law which will be launched at the end of the year and highlighted theimportance of investing in the sector to promote growth and employment.
Fundamental topics also for the Emilia-Romagna territory, further explored during thePublic Assembly of ANCE Emilia Central Areahosted within SAIE. During the event, a study conducted by CREAM on the local construction supply chain, from which it emerged that investments in the territorial area of Bologna, Modena and Ferrara have reached 9 billion euros, equal to 44% of the regional total. On the second day of the fair, thelatest SAIE Observatory in collaboration with Nomismawhich highlighted employment growth of 3.9% per year since 2019, with the average number of employees per company rising from 13 in 2019 to 16 in 2023.
Institutions, associations and companies compared: the best of the 232 SAIE 2024 conferences
Between the 232 conferences which animated the 2024 edition, it is worth highlighting the meeting organized by Superior Council of Public Works and from Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport who, through authoritative voices, analyzed in detail the new European Regulation on Construction Products. With this round table, the protagonists of the sector opened a dialogue between institutions and industry, jointly addressing the fundamental issues to guide the internal market and contribute to future industrial policies.
Great response also to the conference organized by Inarcassa Foundation dedicated to the protection of the building heritage, with an in-depth analysis of the role of the building file. During the conference, among others, spoke Galeazzo BignamiDeputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport.
