Not just ballast: theSun Ballast technical office carries out every year over 23,000 technical reports. A fundamental tool, which since 2012 has constituted a true distinctive feature of the company, and which after more than 10 years continues to provide indispensable support for designers and installers of photovoltaic systems all over the world.
Thanks to 360° technical assistance, Sun Ballast today represents not only the main supplier of photovoltaic structures for flat roofsbut a real one partner to rely on in the search for the safest, most convenient and suitable technical solutions for the specific needs of the customer. But which ones data are they necessary to produce a technical report? And which ones calculations are they provided to the customer?
Photovoltaic system technical report: the data requested from customers
The Sun Ballast Technical Office is made up of over 20 professionalsand in addition to providing comprehensive advice on the range of photovoltaic structuresoffers a complete technical report useful both for simplifying the design phases and for maximizing the optimization safety and the productivity of the installation.
Each technical report is defined starting from data reported by customers; among these, the most important ones are the following:
- Location of the PV system: this can be reported by sending geographical coordinates, or simply by indicating the address of the building. The more precise the position, the more precise the calculations provided will be.
- Building (and parapet) height: crucial in the analysis of winds and shading, these parameters allow the technical office to evaluate the ballast system for photovoltaic systems best suited to the specific characteristics of the building and its roofing.
- Panel type: the brand, model and dimensions of the modules used are essential data to define the type of photovoltaic structure. In fact, the choice of the most suitable ballast also takes into consideration the fixing parameters indicated in the modules’ technical data sheet.
- Floor plan and/or layout: based on the characteristics of the roof or the arrangement of the panels, the technical office creates and supplies a complete plan with structures and accessories, capable not only of simplifying the design, but also of optimizing the management of the spaces.
Photovoltaic system technical report: the data provided
The technical report provided by the Sun Ballast Technical Office contains all the data necessary to create a photovoltaic system on a flat roof safe, productive and reliable. To ensure the highest level of safety, the calculations carried out by the technicians are also defined on the basis of main reference regulations – such as the NTC (Technical Standards for Construction, Ministerial Decree 17/01/2018), the CEI 82-74 and the UNI ENV 1991-2-4 – and some specific circulars issued by the regulatory bodies (such as the Circular 21 January 2019, n.7 CSLL.PP., or CNR-DT 207/2008).
The technical report is therefore defined on the basis of data provided by the customer and the regulatory framework reference, and includes some fundamental calculations for correct construction of the system.
Among these:
- Complete floor plan: the design shared in the report is created taking into account all the specific characteristics of the roofing, the geographical position of the building, the type of panel and the selected structure, and makes both the design and installation phases much simpler and faster.
- Incidence of loads: the calculation of the weight per square meter constitutes a fundamental parameter, and the Sun Ballast technical office provides a detailed analysis of the incidence ensuring the perfect balance between the weight of the system and resistance to atmospheric agents.
- Wind calculation: primary aspect for the safety of the PV system, the analysis of the winds is carried out with precision by determining the kinetic pressure based on all the available parameters, such as the pressure and roughness coefficients.
- Stability checks: carried out for each specific pressure zone, this check has the objective of defining the most suitable photovoltaic structure to obtain the correct balance between “pushing” forces and “stabilizing” forces, and allows the end customer to be guaranteed the best level of reliability .
Complete technical assistance from design to assembly
The Sun Ballast technical service offers all customers constant and professional assistance, and in addition to sharing the technical report, the staff provides free support even in the early stages of inspectionin the use of configurator and during all assembly operations. A guarantee of safety, efficiency and longevity of the system, which accompanies customers not only in choosing the best photovoltaic structures, but also in the more concrete phases of installation, transport and maintenance.
