The pose of one ventilated facade with porcelain stoneware covering even large ones, as well as being based on a design conducted by qualified professionalsrequires the use of a highly qualified workforce. Installers must comply with precise arrangements and installation precautions and to all the indications highlighted during the design and engineering phases of the facade.
The use of specialized and certified personnel, although still of a voluntary nature, is important in the installation of ventilated facades and constitutes an indication present in various legislative decrees, especially if associated with forms of incentives for interventions. There professional certification represents a key element to promote quality and excellence in the construction sector, responding to growing regulatory demands at European level. As highlighted byArch. Daniela Petrone – expert in sustainable design and speaker during the event organized by Granitech last November 29th for the presentation of the Quality Installation certification – by 2050 all buildings will have to comply with eco-sustainable parameters, in line with community objectives. This ambitious goal requires a cultural change which must begin today, through a targeted and certified training and a greater awareness of the challenges to be faced adapt the construction sector to the required standards.
From Granitech’s collaboration with Certi.Sa body accredited by Accredia in compliance with the UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17024 standard for personnel certification, a new voluntary skills certification scheme capable of guaranteeing the neutrality and impartiality of the evaluation. The professional certification system designed by Granitech intends to define ex ante the knowledge, skills and competences pursuant to UNI 11018, i.e. irprofessional qualifications that the installer must possess. Furthermore, it defines the evaluation process through which it is possible to objectively certify the subject’s actual possession of these requirements.
The objective of the certification is to propose to the market a list of installers with proven experience and competence, meeting adequate quality standards at an international level and able to provide greater guarantees to clients.
The advantages of the certified installer
Choosing the certification path to become accredited as a qualified installer of ventilated facades has important features advantages:
- it is evidence of a modus operandi based on best practices recognized at European level;
- in the event of a dispute it simplifies the proof of having operated with the maximum diligence and professionalism;
- differentiates itself on the market the operator who has chosen to entrust the verification of his personal and professional skills to an impartial and independent certification body.
How to get certified
As described in the presentation meeting from Dr. Roberto Baldodirector of Certi.s, the certification process involves an exam consisting of several phases:
- evaluation of documentation their professional experience is convincing
- a written test for the evaluation of knowledge, through a test with multiple choice questions;
- a practical test in simulations of real situations, with the execution of the actual installation in operational contexts relevant to the professional reality of the installer of ventilated facades.
The certification lasts six years and requires maintenance through professional refresher courses and documentation proving the carrying out of installation activities for ventilated facades.
This certification scheme does not simply offer formal recognition of professional skills, but also represents a catalyst for raising awareness of the technical and environmental responsibilities that the construction sector is called upon to face.
