The types of efflorescence
Exist three different types of efflorescencegrouped in turn into two categories.
L'primary efflorescencewhich can manifest itself in the form of:
- saline efflorescencethe possible causes of which can be traced back to the excessive humidity of the mortar applied during the brick laying phase, to the humidity of the brick itself or to the failure to protect the facade in case of rain during the work phase;
- lime efflorescencewhich can occur when there is excess mortar in the new masonry.
L'secondary efflorescencewhich manifests itself in the form of chalk efflorescence. In this case, it is a more complex phenomenon attributable to the interaction of multiple processes during the installation phase. Being a particularly resistant type of efflorescence, it can only be removed through a process of sandblasting the facade.
