Lighting and air conditioning: the requirements for admission to the incentives

If these plants respond to specific technological requirements – such as the adoption of intelligent energy consumption management and monitoring systems – could fall within the eligible items indicated in theAnnex A, Law 232/2016. In particular, the systems must be equipped with components, systems and solutions for theefficient use and the control of energy consumption and for the reduction of emissionsso as to actively contribute to the sustainability objectives of Transition 5.0.

Air conditioning and lighting systems must therefore include the integration of advanced technologies, such as software energy management, intelligent sensors and monitoring systems. These systems, if they are equipped with the indicated characteristics, can be classified within the voice “intelligent components, systems and solutions for the management, efficient use and monitoring of energy and water consumption and for the reduction of emissions” of the second group of Annex A, thus making them eligible for incentives.

Excluding energy production systems

It is important to note that not all service systems will be admitted to the measure. For example, i energy production systemslike the thermal power plantsthey remain excluded.

A’exception it is only available for i heat electrification systems powered by renewable sourceswhich may fall within the eligibility criteria such as self-production energy systems. This exemption is provided for byart. 7, letter c) of the Implementation Decree of Transition 5.0, which encourages the use of renewable energy sources.

Specific applications: hotels, hospitals and shops

A concrete example of the applicability of these incentives is represented by the lighting and air conditioning systems present in hotels, hospitals and shops. These systems, if managed through energy monitoring software and equipped with advanced energy saving technologiesfall into the categories provided for in Annex A.
