Wooden Construction Manual

This manual aims to become the reference for designers on the principles and rules of wooden construction. The work addresses the sector of designing wooden buildings in a comprehensive manner, analyzing topics such as: the sustainability and efficiency of the material, the fire-fighting behavior and in situations of environmental humidity, the lightness of the material and its behavior in seismic areas and in the energy renovation sector. The theme of prefabrication is analyzed as a founding element of the design process, evaluating its indisputable benefits. Through concrete examples of built buildings, the main wooden construction systems are addressed, from massive to light, delving into the theme of the construction and design flexibility of the material. The book deals in depth with the design themes (from preliminary to executive) with particular references to the main nodes (ground connection, wall node, wall-floor, wall-window, wall-roof) to the advanced ones (superelevations, thermal insulation , etc.). Numerous case studies support the reader at an operational level, showing in practice the procedures and design strategies to create energy-efficient, long-lasting and safe wooden buildings from a seismic and structural point of view. Paolo De Martin Architect, expert in wood design, energy consultant for the CasaClima Agency since 2002. He carries out technical training activities on behalf of the CasaClima Agency and other bodies at conferences, seminars and sector fairs at national and international level on the topic of energy efficient design and renovation of existing buildings.
